I have very little to no SEO experience.
The domain mysite.com is referenced across millions of websites, forums, blogs etc... but in 99% of the cases, the reference is just a appearing on the content as a text rather than linking to the domain itself.
example:
In this step we will make sure that your deployed xxxx application knows which website name (i.e. www.*mysite.com*) it should respond to, ...
Now imagine, you get holds of the domain mysite.com. Would these thousands of references have any positive effect on the ranking? How quickly would it rank if it never had any content?
What would be the short term tactic and long term strategy to make the most out of such domain?
