I see a lot of SEOs (Brian dean, Ahrefs, etc.) preach the importance of building an email list.
While I can understand that it drives initial and convertible traffic to the website and doesn’t leave you completely reliant on the big G (google), how is it useful from a rankings standpoint?
Some people on here will argue that good user engagement will drive you up the rankings, but that theory is still under a fair amount of scrutiny and experimentation by players much bigger than myself, so that’s not really a strong enough reason to spend time and money building an email list.
So with everyone so hell-bent on building an email list, I got to ask, does it really have any SEO benefits?
