Does publishing daily short posts help your evergreen posts rank higher? And is it worth it for Google News?

Hi everyone, So basically I'm very fortunate to have a blog that has grown to rank fairly high for a number of niche industry keywords, and now I'm looking to make the next step up. The site only has around 60 posts, but they are all long-form, 2,000+ words and optimized to rank for a term or number of terms.

The website's actual homepage gets very few visits, only the posts themselves. So posting daily, news-style content is almost useless monetarily, but I would like to find out if these posts would help evergreen posts rank higher -- if perhaps it increased the website's authority within its niche, and trust with Google?

Additionally, how much difference would getting on to the Google News part for industry-specific news make? That would be another reason to write news content, but I read you need your own address and I don't have my own office.

In trying to decide how to invest my time (writing more long form content vs backlinks / other SEO vs writing more, shorter posts) I'm trying to work out which would be the most effective strategy. Any insight would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
