Google is ranking Coronavirus content really quickly

tl;dr: Googlebot prioritizes Coronavirus content when deciding which domain/page to evaluate first, based on my experience of launching a new domain and seeing rankings happen before doing any SEO work

Started working on a coronavirus news aggregator some weeks ago, made the site public some days ago, did not submit it to Google in any way. Googlebot discovered the site on its own within 2 days, which is not uncommon. I have some experience running PBN like sites and have seen Googlebot discovering domains fully on its own, so that in and of itself was not that surprising to me.

On PBN domains it usually takes almost always a week or longer to rank, and although I don't have exact data on this, the average seems to be somewhere about the 2-3 week mark.

The coronavirus site was indexed almost immediately and started receiving traffic just 2 days after being indexed, before we even finished the site. Traffic logs show users in Italy, Ahrefs shows a keyword ranking in Sweden

We didn't do any outreach, link-building, sitemaps, didn't submit the site to Google at that time. The site just launched and we're going to do these things next.

This finding matches the SEMrush sensor reporting high volatility for news

I previously tried to post this with URLs to Ahrefs, Semrush and the site itself but that got flagged it seems, so trying again without.
