How do I frame an argument against duplicate content?

I am working with a company that is currently revamping/reorganizing a number of their pages for their product (we'll say it's mortgage loans for this example).

They currently have Mortgages within primary navigation and this goes to a page that provides an overview of each mortgage type and CTAs leading to the product pages for each type BUT within the secondary nav for Mortgages, the website also has a page titled "Find a Mortgage" that has a very similar format and the same exact descriptions and CTAs leading to product pages.

My feeling is that only one of these pages is necessary, but they don't see the harm in having both ranking for related keywords. I know that this provides a confusing and frustrating users experience, but can someoe help me provide a more cogent argument? I'm afraid my knowledge is limited.

Thank you in advance for any advice!
