So, before doing SEO we often do organic keyword research to figure out what customers and potential customers are searching for that the client might not realize is relevant to their business. We create lots of hand-filtered CSV files from tools like SEMRush, etc, showing things like difficulty, traffic volume and client and competitor SERP rankings for the terms.
We like to then consult with the client to help them understand how people online are searching for their offerings (and their competitors'). But most tools do a really bad job of visualizing this data.
We use a combination of spreadsheet and chart tricks to try to distill it into a form the client can grasp, but I wonder if there are tools we're missing.
For example, one particular client has a competitor that has done their SEO homework and ranks for 645 industry-related keywords. Showing the client all of these so they can judge which ones are relevant and applicable to THEIR business, as well as how lucrative the keyword is for volume, and how hard it will be to rank for it, is a tricky job.
I'm thinking about creating some tools to help with this, but I don't want to bother if someone already has them. Insight?
