Let's say that I have a blog that's covering deals and promotions for a certain industry. For example, deals for electronics stores.
I'll have a static page for each store that I cover and hope to get that page to rank for the generic / broad keyword. On these static pages I would sort of start with a foundation of content in the way of a brief history or description of the store and what they're known for and perhaps some of the more well known promotions they've had in the past.
For example:
"Best Buy Deals" "Walmart Deals" "Costco Deals"
Except these deals change all the time. They're on a continuous rotation.
I was thinking about also posting to the blog where I'll post about the deals each week in a new blog post and then use a WordPress app to throw the thumbnails and recent posts with captions into the relevant static pages. All blogs about Best Buy would be fed to the "Best Buy Deals" page and so on and it would be the thumbnail, short description and would like to that blog post.
In addition to that I was thinking about having a list of current deals with a quick sentence or two description on that same static page and that would be continuously changed as deals expire and others are started.
I have this site live now and don't really like my content management. It's ranking really well for a few low volume terms and is on the cusp of top 5 for some larger volume terms. I wouldn't really mess anything up for the pages that currently rank, but moving forward I feel like I need a new game plan for how to manage the massive amount of temporary content that comes in.
Right now I'm creating static pages for promotions. So something like "Best Buy Apple Laptop Sale" but then that lasts for 3 days and goes away and the information is old and the amount of static pages that this could end up being is staggering. It's hard to keep track of and it's hard to edit and rewrite content for as the promotions change.
My competition is almost all just blogs that have a brand new post for each and every tiny deal or product offering that pops up. No real organization based on store. No main page for the broad "Best Buy Deals" keyword. It's sort of how I've been able to gain so much ground while not really being sure how I wanted to manage my content.
