Super-N00b question re: removing category in URL

Hey,

Got a new site. Got some content. Got some traffic. But my URLs are showing as .com/category/insert-post

I don't want catagory there.

And in seopress you can remove it (even though I already in WP permalinks settings).

Can I just do this? Or will it cause issues with redirects?

Any advice welcome!
