I am the developer for a restaurant with 3 locations who are looking to add online-ordering to their website. One challenge we have is that most solutions want to place the ordering app on their domain instead of ours -- myclient.orderingapp.com instead of having the ordering directly from myclient.com
I would think that having the ordering app and all associated menu pages and menu item pages on our domain would be great for having more listings in Google search and therefore more possibilities of appearing in searches. But it also seems from a glance that not many restaurants do this. Is it just a case of them not knowing the benefits or not wanting to spend the time?
As a concrete example, we're looking at the Olo ordering system at olo.com and in looking at two case studies, I can see that one restaurant that uses theirname.olo.com has no search results come up when searching for their specific menu items whereas another restaurant that has elected to put the olo system on their own domain has results for all of their individual menu items listed in Google.
Seems like a no-brainer but it also doesn't seem to be common practice. Is that true?
