Few questions regarding back links

Hi all,

Few more questions from newbie:

1) should I only get back links from domains that have higher Domain Authority than mine? are the links coming from lower DA useless?

2) are sponsored links on blogs with "nofollow" href attributes any good? or waste of money?

3) where do you find reporters / bloggers that are willing to write about the product you are promoting?

So far I've been doing the following scenario:

1) google wanted phrase, like ie. "mac spreadsheet app"

2) contact websites from top30 and ask about the review/guest post conditions

3) 2/10 responds, usually with fees like >1k usd and limited link time (and additional nofollow)

Am i am missing something?
