Facing Problem after Updating Content

Hi guys, so recently I updated one of my content, with minor changes in content, images, and some proper formatting of Headings. changed the meta title and URL slug according to the updated topic, but didn't change anything in the meta description. After it got indexed by Google when I search for the post on my designated keyword, I keep seeing my old post with old meta title, old slug, old description, and when I click on it then I get to see the updated content.

My question is - will it take time to update the content in SERP? or I'm doing something wrong over here, because I have updated content before but I have never faced anything like this.

Buying an expired domain that was momentarily ruined by pharma content?

There's a domain we've wanted for ages and just became available again as an expired domain (we tried to buy it once before but someone else did).

Unfortunately, it looks like it was briefly used for pharma crap but now it's available again.

Is that domain's value recoverable if we buy it? Or a complete waste of time?

The rankings of our many keywords drastically fell from Friday in the U.S. What could be the reason?

Our primary keywords were ranking on top position in the U.S. (Ahrefs) but half of them took a wild plunge in ranking. Many of them don't even rank in 100 now. Now, the number of visitors has declined sharply too. However, there are other keywords that are still in top position.

What could be the possible reasons? I checked Google Search Console, and there were no errors in the security and manual actions pages. I have no idea why this happened. Is Google penalizing us? Although our content is similar on most pages - because we are writing for the keywords of same niche - they are in no way duplicated. We also have not used Black Hat SEO.

Looking for help!!!

SEO beginner question - does it matter (help or hinder) which site builder I use?

Hiya,

I'm about to launch my Christmas store for the year and I'm stuck choosing between Shopify, Click Funnels and Drop Funnels.

It's my understanding DF sites rank better with Google due to being Wordpress based (which they supposedly like), and CF has issues with some payment providers so that's a downside for them... then there's Shopify who are well established for stores selling physical products (which I am) so maybe they'd rank higher because of that?

Does anyone have any advice on which site builder I should use just taking the SEO / search rankings into account? Does it even matter (as in should I ignore this reason and choose based on other factors)?

Thanks :)

Question about ranking for english search terms in non-english google

When using the neil patel keyword tool I noticed that when I put in my country and my local language but for an english keyword, a lot of great keywords come up. It's not that strange since most people here speak english and like me a lot of them search in english because you'll most likely get more/better results.

Eg: Local language kw has 10k search volume, only local cc sites in top 10
Same kw in english has 15k search volume, only big international sites in the top 10 (eg nytimes), no locals

Is there a way to get an advantage on these big sites since I'm local and outrank them?

(I don't mind making my site bilingual, this is a new project so it wouldn't be that big of an issue)

Tips to find a remote SEO job?

I'm currently head of a large eCom company but the hours (in office, 9-6) and commute are meaning that I'm spending 15 hours commuting each week which is unsustainable for the life-work balance that I am seeking...

So - to get to the point, if you have any thoughts on how to find a dream SEO remote gig can you pls drop your comment?

Currently, this is my strategy:

  • LinkedIn searching for "Remote" and "SEO Jobs" which gets decent results
  • Searching Google "Niche" + "Remote SEO Job" (so-so results)
  • A few sites like: FlexJobs and NoDesk

Is there any other method or resource you'd suggest?

How does a website speed is meassured regarding images in different sections.

When a website is loading and is being analyzed by Google's Page Speed, does it check the images used on the front page only or every image hosted on the whole website?

Moving from Pages 3 & 4 to 1st Page

I own a professional services firm and would like to increase the organic traffic on our website. Currently most of the kw's we rank for are on pages 3 and 4, some on page 2 and not much on page 1. Our site currently has about 30 pages and all of them are indexed. They are a mix of blog posts and main product pages. Most are setup in a in a "Specific Service, Main City, State" format. I also have a few that target other secondary cities as well as more general topics.

The domain is about 5 years old, and the site is currently built on WordPress. We did a redesign a little over a year ago updating to a newer premium theme. According to Moz we have a Domain Authority of 15 and the main page has a Page Authority of 25, while some of the main product pages range from 13 to 16 Page Authority. Ahrefs gives us a 2.4 Domain Authority with 143 backlinks from 76 referring domains. Quite a few of those are blogspot links that are linking to one of the images on my site, that I did not initiate. Google Search Console shows 39 linking sites.

I've been slowing adding a mixture of backlinks from places like HARO and from some local business associations websites, but I haven't seen much change from the backlinks I have added so far. I know I don't have many, but most of the ones I have added are higher quality.

I know I need to work on both, but would I be better off focusing on creating more content or getting more backlinks? I'm guessing since I rank on pages 3-4 for some of the terms I'm targeting, I probably need more links to get those on page 1.

How to increase time on page and decrease bounce rate?

I have a small (non-english) blog. It has currently ~2k visitors a month. It's not much, but it's something. I have ~30 posts, which I consider being of good quality.

I went through my matomo repots and notices that >80% of my visitors bounce. That alone wouldn't be a bad sign if they found what they searched for. But then I found that for most users the time on my page is 10 seconds or less.

Therefore, I guess, they simply bounce. As you might have guessed I'm fairly new to optimization. Here are my questions:

  • Do you have any tips on how to increase the time on page? (because I feel, bounce rate isn't as important)
  • How can I decrase the bounce rate in a second step?

I know, this is quite general and not being able to provide a link certainly doesn't help, but maybe there's a chance that you know some general recommendations.

PPC Myths You Should Let Go of During 2021

Would you be convinced and suddenly convert from a, "Come have your Mom live with us..." ad? Instead of recognizing that their strategy was off, they blamed PPC. Deciding on a care home for a parent is a long process fraught with emotion. You won't make that decision based on an ad, no matter how nicely it is constructed. But that doesn't mean PPC doesn't have an important role to play here. You could use PPC to introduce your care home to caregivers considering their options

Blogspot image backlinking method. Help!!!!

I came across this website while doing some random search on Google. I got obsessed by the website because of how poor the website quality was and how high it was ranking on the Google serp.

I did a reverse seo study on its article nieche, the interlinking of the website and backlink building.

I saw a strange link building method where the website is building daily upto 12 to 18 backlins from blogspot website. Linking the jpg image link of their website on the image on blogspot website.

I have searched everywhere of this link building method but no one knows it, From google results, Facebook groups, forums and telegram groups no one knows it. There is only one forum(blackhatworld) on Google opened on Aug but no one has the answer.

I have found that some big brands are using this method too. At this point I think this method is only known to big seo agencies. What do you think guys is anyone familiar of this method.

Best pricing structures when doing SEO services in order to ensure long-lasting mutually beneficial relationships?

Best pricing structures when doing SEO services in order to ensure long-lasting mutually beneficial relationships?

At the moment I follow hourly based pricing. When the time comes to send a proposal, I put together a 6-month long campaign (which usually guarantees no. 1 position with the target keyword) and list hours needed to execute the campaign. Monthly payment is calculated following formula - Hours Needed * Our Hourly Rate and divided with 6, because the campaign will be 6 month long.

Although, after initial 6 months there are still keywords to conquer, as you all know after fixing the main issues of the website (done in the initial campaign) we are left with off-page SEO, which does not require that many hours.

The problem I face with this pricing model is simple - when the “best time of the year” comes in our SEO lifecycle, when we start conquering one keyword after another, and client finally sees the power of SEO! I have to settle for 1/3 of what I was getting during initial campaign, because off-page SEO does not take that many hours! Although client is mega happy and willing to pay, following original pricing model it is random to ask as much as during the initial campaign.

In addition, if we take in account that usually the 1st proposal includes price that is “friendly” because the trust is still not there and the clients hasn’t felt the power of SEO on their skin - we are left with situation where the first offer is fairly low and the next proposal for continuing SEO after initial campaign is even lower.

This is the mindfuck I am stuck in. What about you guys? What pricing structure do you use for your SEO services to ensure long lasting relationships with your clients and in the mean time to get fairly paid?

Exactly how do you get started on link-buiding?

Hello SEO experts,

Professionally I am not an SEO person and not looking to get started on that either. However, I am an experienced writer who wants to understand how SEO works.

I have read various blogs, watched tutorials and free courses on SEO over the years out of curiosity. This helped me learn how to align my content, seamlessly merge keywords, write effective headlines, research keywords, content length and even how to market the content so SEO flourishes further.

However, every single time my progress is hindered by link-building.

I am aware that you can look for dead links, guest posts, send emails to contact people, create a GMB. But the question still remains is:

How exactly do you go about when it comes to link building? Are there some go-to websites? Routines, techniques?

Every guide I stumble upon is somewhat incomplete when it comes to link building. It says look for dead links, but when you find them, there is often no way to contact that website. Guest posts are tough for new websites.

So if it's not an industry secret, I will appreciate it if some of you can share few practices that can nudge me in the right direction.

I am happy creating good content, but clients often ask questions....and I like to learn more as it helps me churn out even more marketable content.

HTTP-HTTPS redirects: domain level or each URL?

Googling for answers seems to give conflicting answers here. We have a domain that has been HTTP but some individual URLs have been HTTPS (like form pages). We are about to deploy HTTPS redirect on the server to get everything going to https://www.domain.com. Do we have to go to the effort of a big 301 redirect list of all page-level URLs without Google dropping our earned page rank?

Thanks all!

Page ranking #1 on keyword... without using said keyword. How?

I thought this was interesting and wanted to know what SEOs think about this.

Search the keyword "vegan burger meat" and you'll see a Beyond Meat web page ranking #1.

This page does not have the word vegan on the website, title or meta description. Not once!

Is this Google equating the word vegan with "plant based?" How are they ranking #1 for this keyword without using the word "vegan" at all?

Add "best" before the search and you'll see top 10 style blogs ranking in the top 3.

How to boost one product page of an e-commerce website?

I have one e-commerce website. I want to boost the product keyword on the product page, what should I do?

Writing much content on the product page is not the best choice, because too much writing leads to a bad user experience.

GMB Local SEO question

I am trying to diagnose how one particular competitor is smoking us in local rankings. I came across a text field “Service Details” within Google My Business Services.

This allows me to put in a brief description of each service we offer. My thought is that this could be a good place for keywords. That said, the descriptions are not public facing (or to the best of my knowledge) so I am reluctant to do all the work for nothing.

I am wondering if anyone has filled these out and if there were any noticeable results.

Any insight is appreciated

Any cheap Content writing options for "Testing" site?

Hey guys, I want to do some blog testing on a secondary site and looking for the cheapest way to get blogs written for this purpose. I can give bullet points and kw's for a 350 word article.

I am looking at spinning softwares or trying to find a college student who wants to intern, any thought on these two options please or any others?

p.s. I had tried a Fiverr writer but I strongly suspect they are using software to create the articles which I still have to edit myself and at even at $12 per article not worth it and too expensive for this purpose.

How to build an email list without pre-existing traffic?

Hey everyone,

So there’s no denying the importance of an email newsletter for blogs.

Now having said that, exit pop-ups, optimising site for email, locking content, downloadable pdfs etc. are all tried and tested email list building strategies.

However, these strategies are seemingly ineffective for websites that don’t have the traffic to leverage them.

So, my question is, what are some email list building strategies that I can use that don’t rely on website traffic to pull the emails?

1.8k URLs indexed in Search Console - 320 URLs indexed in site:domain search

Hi there,

To check indexation I normally crawl the site, then check search console and the sitemap - compare all the status codes, vlookup them against each other to make sure they match etc.

I'm used to working with lead-gen websites - just started a new job on a large ecommerce site

- sitemap, site crawl and S.C. coverage report all show approx 1.8k URLs indexed

- site: search shows 320 URLs indexed (it says "About 2,030 results (0.44 seconds)" - but upon scraping the URLs - there is only 320)

Is there a specific reason why Google is not showing all of the URLs on a site: search?

Thanks v much

The Value Of Low Volume Keywords

So I've recently been working with a client in the CBD industry and one of the number one things they stressed to me was that they wanted to increase the amount of traffic to their website every month. Now I gave a confident response as I'm confident in my SEO abilities; however, CBD tends to be outside of my normal industries I work with as these individuals normally are your typical businesses such as plumbers, roofers, and any other service business you can think of and even more so those of you who are familiar with CBD know it's an up and coming industry with tons of national competition.

After researching tons of keywords and comparing to other national level CBD sites I thought it might be best to target lower search volume keywords. That may sound crazy especially after my client told me the main thing would be driving traffic but my mindset behind it was that by targeting these lower level keywords the competition wouldn't nearly be as fierce and you would ideally be able to hit more of them at a time. I tested out my strategy obviously still working in those national level keywords but still focusing more towards the lower volume side and almost 4 months in my client has seen an increase of almost 700 visitors a month.

Now this is not to say that you should always go for less search volume when it comes to keywords, but I think this strategy on a national level could really work especially if you don't have the privileges of being a massive corporation with a million dollar website. What are you guys thoughts on low volume keyword targeting?

Two Weird Questions about Massive Real Estate Site (100,000+ Pages)

Hi All,

I'm working on a website with about 750,000 pages, most of which are unnecessary. But there are about 100,000+ listing pages for homes.

Currently, the website uses a few Yoast Generated sitemaps which cover about 15,000 of those pages and the rest are either discovered or not indexed.

  1. Should I continue to use the Yoast sitemap? Or should I use screaming frog and update the sitemap once a month? Yoast doesn't seem to be getting all the listings.
  2. Many of the pages are not being indexed at all because (I think) they have thin or duplicate content. Listings are either the same kinda info on other internal pages or even other websites, and the content is thin at best. How do I get them indexed? Would I need to create unique, fleshed-out content on each page... or just interlink to all these pages a lot?

Would appreciate any insights!

Google now not indexing posts - only a recent issue

Hi, Recently, I've noticed that I've been submitting my posts to be indeced on Google search console, but they are not being indexed - this is a recent problem, only the last couple of weeks or so.
in the past, it took maybe a day for the pages to be indexed, but some have gone weeks.
my content is wholy written by me, not copy and pasted from some other sites so I'm sure it's not due to that.
When looking at the report on Google search console, it says the pages are "Discovered - Currently not indexed" and below that says "Excluded".

Is there any way to see an impact on your brand keywords performance because of mobile apps? Do SEOs measure it? If yes, how do they measure it? Share your thoughts.

SEO Question: Who search your website with your brand name? I believe that they will be your loyal customers or regular visitors.

What if you motivate them to move to mobile app by offering them some additional benefits, they are most likely to switch to mobile apps. In this case, the probability of them searching you with your brand name in Google will go down and it will further affect clicks and impression data on your brand keywords.

Multi-Prong Business SEO

Are FAQ pages relevant anymore?

I'm of the belief that FAQ pages are generally outdated. They're usually a crutch used to cover up poor IA and content strategy. This is the approach taken by many major governments around the world.

If your visitors actually have FAQs, it indicates a failing on your part to properly integrate the answer where they need it, not an opportunity for a new FAQ entry.

By improving customer journies and experiences, there shouldn't be a need for the vast majority of FAQs in the first place.

That said, I constantly hear how important an FAQ page is for SEO, and how many users visit FAQ pages after home pages, etc. But is this really because an FAQ page itself performs or ranks better, or merely because the rest of the site was lacking?

I'd love to discuss further and try to understand if I'm missing a key aspect.

Google my business Question

Hi guys,

I work for a small financial services company in the UK. Our main google business page is based in a fairly decent sized town just outside of a major city. This is our main offices and we tend to get alot of business through people typing the following into google ‘financial services in (location)’ the location being the town we operate from. As an idea for expansion, we thought if we create another google my business page and base it within an office in the city would this be possible? The idea is to rent a small serviced office within the city centre and use the office as a base for one member of staff to operate from. We then create a google my business page for the serviced office and still use our main offices landline number and website as well as the same company name (which it is anyways) and then use our serviced offices to attract customers from within the city. Please let me know any thoughts on this? Thanks guys

SEO blog for a niche greentec startup

I am starting to write blog articles for a greentec startup for a niche market. The company has only 2 blogs currently. Should I optimise it on a longtail-keyword tailored perfectly to the recipients (very low search volume of 150-300) or a broad keyword with very high search volume and combine it with SEA to get more traffic. Any advice is highly appreciated.

How to remove low text html ratio error in blog pages?

The main reason behind the low text html ratio error in blog pages is you paste the content in editor directly from MS word or similar wordpad like google docs. When you paste the content from such writer, the coding will automatically added in the editor. To avoid these error, you should always paste the content from notepad and notepad++ in the blog editor.

You will never going to face the issue of low text html in blogs

Recently, I run an SEO audit for my website the one technologies in SEMrush and I found in some of the blogs there is low text html ratio.

To resolve the error, I open the blog pages and I find there is lot of coding but I don't have any idea to resolve it.

So, I open the editor through which we post the blog and checked the view source option provided in the editor and after close scrutiny, I find there is lot of span tags after each paragraph which includes lot of coding which is not at all required.

I removed all that coding and re-run the audit and the low text html error has been resolved.

Advice anyone? Information on multiple pages or all on one page? (SquareSpace)

Hi, I had a website that features information on around 20 different subject matters (all related to writing). Each subject had its own page. For various reasons I wanted to transfer this information to a SquareSpace site that I already own. However, the template does not allow for a lot of pages (not nested within one folder anyway) and I ended up putting all my information on one long page (divided into h2 sections, with internal links). Will that impact SEO or make no difference? Should I look for a different template that allows me to break this information up again? Thanks in advance.

Any good sites/sources for Data Studio report templates?

I'm creating reports with my own design, and to be quite frank, they don't look that good. Does anyone know of any website or tools that provides Data Studio report templates?

Search engines link to a fake website

I know nothing about SEO but a recent issue led me to ask here. Sorry if it breaks the rules.

My wife's website has been up for many years and she gets some regular traffic from people signing up for her classes and services.

For some reason yesterday a few of her clients noticed that searching for "[wife's name]" on Google, Bing or Yahoo still does bring up her website [wife's website].com as the #1 search result with the URL showing next to the link.

However when someone clicks on the link from Google, Bing or Yahoo, they are automatically sent to a fake spam site for pharmacy products instead.

Entering [wife's website].com into any browser still navigates directly to her website.

The web hosting service provider said that it is because of visibility and SEO.

Does that sound right? Is that the issue? TIA

Does PageSpeed Insights only measures the homepage?

I am checking our website's Core Web Vitals Score and I am wondering if the tool is only testing the homepage or does it test the whole website if I submit my homepage URL on it?
