I'm trying to set up what I feel like should be relatively simple event tracking using Google Tag Manager, but it's not working and I have no idea why.
I'm trying to set up an event for clicks on 'Download case study' buttons across the website.
Here's how I've set it up in GTM:
Tag Configuration
Track type: Event
Category: Case study CTA
Action: Clicked
Label:
Trigger Configuration
Trigger Type: Click - All Elements
This trigger fires on: Some clicks
Fires when...
Click Text Contains Download case study
I'm testing the event by looking in the Realtime section of Google Analytics, but nothing shows up.
The domain has some overly officious cookies set up, which I've accepted and I can see that the pages I visit are being tracked in GA, but I'm not sure if this is impacting GTM. For example, when I try to enter Preview mode in GTM, it opens up Google Tag Assistant, but when I enter the URL for the site I want to debug it times out and can't connect.
