Hi,
I'm a seo beginner so what I did might have been stupid but whatever
I've posted an article two weeks ago that google didn't want to index for some reason
I lost patience and decided to delete this post, duplicate it and repost with a different url to give the indexation another try
but when I did that, the original url got suddenly indexed, and right after the new url got indexed as well. Two urls to same content, but only one was working.
I did a 301 redirect from the 404 url to the new one, and when I search the article on google, I find only one URL that is working fine, so it seems that google understood the issue
My question is this : if I'm working to build links and authority for the new url, will it spill over the old url as well? Because that's the one coming up on the serp in the first place
I'm afraid I'd be working on the new url authority for nothing, as the old url will have no sites linking to it (obviously)
