How to outsource my SEO

Hi guys, i have started a new Ecom business based in Aus and I am not to familiar with SEO myself(I am more focused on FB). I have looked on Upwork to outsource SEO but have no idea how to really tell apart who can do an amazing job or not. I don't have a budget but just would like someone with quality work who can bring me traffic. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

SEO forcing system, is that legal?

I'm a software developer and now im starting to work as a web developer freelancer. In the way it cross on my way an annoucement about a SEO forcing system called 'Super SEO', the guy who invented the system claims thats he invented an algorithm to force websites to appear on the first position or at least on the first page of any web search engine (google, bing, yahoo and maybe others) but also doing the opposite like taking down any page of the search engine just by putting the 'nofollow' metatag. How? He's resilent to show the algorithm but says that have some servers around the world which make the job along with the robots meta tag

My real question is: Is that legal in the eyes of Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and other companies? Because since im not an expert I know the rules of making at least a descent SEO without compromise anything that could do a bad SEO (keywords, H1, title, description, paragraphs, sitemap) but for me this is like a Pay 2 Win game and also forcing a website to appear on the first page even if the site has a crappy SEO by itself. Ive read an experience of a friend who hired a similar service but google tracked the site and punished him to not appear on the search results for a time

Number of keywords on page 1 drops drastically but impressions and clicks remain the same

So I am kind of new to SEO I hope I write everything which is important, so here is some background information

Hey I've looked at different pages of one of my domains and many of them have keywords that climb on page 1 from over 200 to under 100 within a week and stay there for the next weeks.

The impressions and clicks remain the same or rise a bit, also average position has no hard change.

These are keywords that don't have a high search volume and don't generate any traffic anyway. Nevertheless, I wondered what was happening. Does google clean up keywords that are hardly used or something? Or is it something else?

Would be great if one of you had an answer ready.

Cheers

Next SEO Level for my forum?

Hey reddit,

since about 6 months I have a pretty successfull forum with about 5k unique visitors every day. I get about 1.9k-2.1k daily SEO traffic, which is really good.

I started pretty small from multiple hundreds SEO searches per day, bought some backlinks months ago and now I'm at this point.

However since a 1-2 month's my daily SEO traffic pretty much settled around the 2k mark. What would be the next step to make sure I can maybe double these numbers?

I know from a competitor, which has the same niche(s) in his forum, that he get's about 15k-20k daily visitors from google. But they are already on the market for more than 3 years.

I compared our both backlink statistics and they have waaay more backlinks than I do.

Would the best choice to purchase some quality backlinks on a continuous basis? My On-Page optimization seems pretty good, I guess to reach the next level I have to work on the off-page things.

Let me know what you think :)

Her'es Some SEO Copywriting Tips That I've Accumulated For a Few Years

Note: All of these tips are for people who want to rank without needing to participate in bullshit link building schemes. I’ve spent many years ranking websites on Google without spending my time building a link.

  1. Write based on authoritative sources and mention similar info. If you’re targeting two different subjects in one page like (cats + sweaters) try to find information defining both of those things. I remember when I first saw someone ranking for SEO Company USA, they had a blog talking about how the US elections affected search rankings and thus they became more relevant.

  2. For local SEO copywriting you will use a similar technique, except your two combined subjects will be (cats + area) the more you can mention about the area you are in the better you will do. Example, the time I ranked in Maryland for SEO with one page and no link building.

  3. Write based off averages, use a tool like Bench Marketer to help you determine how many words you need in your copy.

  4. Use Cognitive SEO content analyzer to help you figure out what you need to write more or less about based on its content grader.

  5. Use heading tags to highlight your different sections. In terms of what heading tags you should use, I generally also just base this off of averages.

  6. Use ordered and unordered lists in your copy, this will also help you be more likely to rank in voice search.(Extra tip) to help your rank for voice search is to try to answer questions around the subject you are writing on.

  7. Don’t just write for copy, write for layout. This means, actually go and see what page layouts are ranking on Google and why. It may be that you are spending your time filling out the wrong info when you should be doing something completely different depending on what your potential visitor is intending to find.

  8. This tip probably won’t come as a shock to you but grammar is a ranking factor, easily streamline this step by using a tool like Grammarly to quickly check all of your mistakes.

  9. Create anchor points in your copy so people can easily navigate to different sections, this will also give you a chance to get site link extensions in Google.

  10. Include compressed multimedia into your copy. Images and videos can definitely help you rank higher and they can seriously help boost engagement rates.

  11. Don’t forget to add a CTA. If you neglect this step, your visitors may never see another post from you again. Promote a Facebook group, email newsletter, Youtube channel, it doesn’t matter. But giveaway something extra for free.

  12. Repurpose the hell out of your content. This post you are likely watching will end up to be a blog post (or vise versa). SEO is all about being able to hit on as many channels as you can with maximum quality and minimal effort.

  13. Index your content as fast as possible with Search Console as soon as it’s created to avoid content scrapers.

  14. Utilize free nonindexable resources like Facebook groups to create content.

  15. Ask other experts to help contribute ideas for free content with an outreach tool like Pitchbox.

  16. Get rid of your content that isn’t performing and combines it into new posts.

  17. Relaunching your content with newly added content gives you a way higher chance of ranking it further up.

  18. Pair up with a designer who knows how to improve UX of your post.

If you want to see a video explainer of this leave a comment and I'll make one.

Creating An Internal Link Profile

Hey guys! I just took over an SEO campaign, and had a question.

So my client's website has a bunch of articles relating to a service that they provide. (About 15 or so for this topic) They didn't set up any internal links from the articles to the main service page. So here's my question.

I know that I need to setup links with keyword-rich anchor text that link back to the main service page. Now, do I also need to make sure that my main service page has links pointing back to the articles? Do I need the links to travel forward and backward? With 20 different articles, I don't want to spam my users who are on my main service page.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Beginners Checklist for SEO

Hi everyone,

I’m new-ish to SEO and was wondering if anyone that has been successful can share their basic strategies for ranking a new site?

Obviously I know that no one is going to give their secret full proof strategy in detail, but at least a checklist of things to do for trying to rank a new website. I’ve had a lot of trouble ranking organically for keywords, even with writing content that has those keywords within it. I’ve been trying to target low competition, high volume keywords. I’m using SEMrush to track it, but have been getting pretty discouraged when seeing that they don’t even show up with traction in the position tracker.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read.

PBN Tier 2/3 Redirect Question

Hey guys. So I'm in the process of building out my 2nd PBN network.

It's been about 3-4 years since I last built one out. I kinda stopped after 2014 when the big networks got de-indexed. Back at it again. I had around 30-40 sites at it's peak, and it did well to rank for medium competition keywords. But I'm back, rusty and need to verify my thinking process since things have changed and you need to cover your tracks more than ever.

Here's the background:

I'm thinking of using a low authority domain as a tier-3 301/302 redirect to a tier 2 domain i'm building out with spun content. The reason i'm going out to tier 3 is because the anchor texts on that expired domain is relevant to the tier 2 domain.

My Question:

I'm wondering if it's logical or ok to register both the domains on the same hosting provider because naturally if I'm going to just redirect the tier 3 to the tier 2 it would look more 'natural' for that person to own both sites. Not very many people redirect their websites to a site that's not theirs. That's my line of thinking. I'm wanting to test this out on a tier 3 network to decrease the risk of de-indexing.

No other domains will be on that hosting provider.

Thanks

How to deal (or not deal) with duplicate "paragraphs"

I've many pages I want to add about 4 sentences to in the form of a paragraph. The content of the paragraph will be identical on each page (It's a paragraph saying the the facts have been checked and contain one internal link).

The paragraph appears in separate CSS coloring to highlight it. It also appears fairly high up on the page. There's about 2 paragraphs of original content before it and many after it.

Ordinarily I would rewrite each duplicate paragraph. But, it's more of statement so rewriting it would just look bad.

I think I read somewhere that you can add some code in which tells google that this is duplicate text?

What are your thoughts on how to handle this, or am I over thinking "duplicate" content?

Considering switch to HTTPS. Couple questions.

Hi Yes, yes I know I'm well behind when it comes to this but better late than never. I'm considering going the easy route and using Letsencrypt. My site is a wordpress blog hosted at Siteground. It gets about 100K visits per month, with maybe 200-300 pieces of content. A couple questions:

1) I understand my rankings will drop when I make the switch, as Google needs time to recrawl and get used to the new domain. Can you give me a rough idea of how long it takes to regain rankings?

2) Any good one-stop-shop guides out there that I can follow to get it done? There seems to be a lot of info already on the web but I'm looking for that killer guide that will make it easy for me. I'm not too savvy on the technical side.

Kinda random: What's the best way to find when a webpage was removed?

I need to prove the exact date when I removed a specific blog post from my site. Unfortunately, my CMS can't provide logs.

One way I thought of is to look at traffic for that page in GA which clearly drops when I took down the page (but it also shows too much: like how much traffic that page received—which I don't want to disclose). I wonder if anyone has got a better way, like, finding a log of when Googlebots were no longer able to crawl the page or something... Thanks!

How are SPA sites doing in 2018?

The website that I work in-house is redesigning/developing a new website.

The development team is really trying to push for the website to go SPA.

The seo team and I are incredibly skeptical that launching our new website as an SPA will be problem free from a crawlability perspective and we believe it will hinder us from being able to do our jobs as SEOs. A pre-rendering strategy might work but I’ve heard horror stories of large-scale sites implementing these strategies.

Google search results are suddenly linking to a PHP page rather than HTML page for all of my sites

I'm not sure how to best explain this, but for some strange reason, all of the search results for my sites are linking to a PHP page (index.php, which doesn't exist) rather than the static HTML page (index.html, which does exist). Even weirder is that it only happens when using Google. Bing will still send a user to the static HTML pages. I'm not sure when this started happening, but I was recently informed by one of my clients about it.

All of the websites that I've created have only used HTML for the pages. I recently (last week) completely redesigned one of the websites and added a Google Analytics link to the pages. Other than that, nothing has changed. All other websites have remain unchanged for months.

Does anyone have any insight as to why Google tries to send users to an index.php page rather than an index.html page?

EDIT: Here's the error I receive when clicking on the Google search results

Not Found

The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Tips on how to pitch Branding and provide evidence of value after?

I've gotten very comfortable and confident when it comes to pitching, executing, and proving value on SEO and PPC, both of which are directional advertising.

I know for a business to grow in a lot of scenarios branding / awareness advertising is the way to get you past that next hump, but I'm having trouble pitching it (possibly for the appropriate budget) and then proving value after the campaign is done or while it's running even. My specific example is still digital too, it's display ads and I can even show how many people click the ad or if it's brick and mortar I can show how many people show up to the location. What I'm having trouble with on the few branding campaigns I have done is proving value to do it continuously. Am I setting the wrong expectations? I've thought about making it mandatory for client to agree in principal to multiple years of branding ads because branding might take so long I just haven't run ads long enough to see the return. Any help is appreciated.

My 2 observations are that it is used for apps mainly, and the one thing for most businesses to take advantage of is proximity related notifications, but they're phasing out Android users all together because of a negative user experience. BIG Dip in Rankings

Hi, a small site we operate that receives 1k-3k clicks per day (weekends much higher than weekdays) immediately lost ranking for a bunch of terms on the 24th. All terms that we have lost ranking for are terms that have high(ish) volumes of search (anything with 500+ searches per month) . Our main keyword which was previously ranking #2 (sometimes structured data) for the past 6-9 months suddenly stopped rankings.

Some facts about the site:

  • Content is 10.5 months old, domain is 12 months old (recently renewed)
  • We've done little to no link building/off page seo, outside of links on our existing sites (same niche/genuinely for users)
  • No major changes in recent backlinks in Google webmasters
  • The website still ranks #1 for smaller terms
  • If we filter results by date (e.g. only show past year in Google) setting the date back 10 years, we're still ranking high
  • It is specific terms we are not showing up for (high search volume), not specific pages/the site itself. If we search for a longtail for one of our terms that we lost ranking for that has low volume, we are still ranking high
  • There are no manual penalties, no changes to the site AT ALL for the past 4 weeks. Everything fine on the technical end
  • Site stats like bounce rates and time on page have been the same (low bounce rate, high time on page, etc). We've actually been improving if anything

Some things that we think might be related to this:

  • We renewed the domain for this site 4 days before this drop happened, no changes to WHOIS information though
  • The site's ahrefs rank jumped up from 9m to 7m on the same day that this drop happened. The same thing happened to another website of ours, which is unaffected (same niche, but a much bigger site). No new links on the 24th that show in ahrefs. We had one on the 23rd which was from a new site of ours (the other website had a link from this site as well, which does suggest it could be the cause). Contacted ahrefs support and they tell me there's been no change in their rank algorithm
  • We've had a huge spike in amount of pages crawled per day on lots of our sites as-of the 18th. Pages crawled per day went from 500-2k to 5k-10k. Our other sites that had this spike have not had ranking drops.

Anyone have any idea what this might be? We've waited a week to see if this will recover itself, but seems less likely that will be the case now.

We commonly have similar things happen to new sites, but never something like this on a 1 year old site.

Thank you.

Did we hire the right person?

We recently hired a new content manager to fulltime manage our content (ya rly). He has 2 years or SEO experience, we have not, so he's also responsible for our SEO.

But.

I'm seriously doubting his skills, though I don't have enough SEO-knowledge to back this feeling. I recently purchased him a RankRanger and Majestic subscription (on his request). He made a list with websites with a low trustflow (0 or 1) because backlinks from them are bad. He's e-mailing all of them as we speak to remove the link to our website so "our avarage trustflow will rise".

Now I can Google the concept of trustflow and vaguely understand it, but I'm not sure whether 0-trustflow links are bad and removing them is good. All I know is that I saw our accountant in the list. He links to our website in a business case blog, but has no trustflow. This doesn't feel right, because I can't believe it's a bad link.

Is he ruining our backlink profile or should I let my doubts go?

What are some key attributes that can help me stand out among other candidates and excel in this industry?

I always feel overwhelmed when I imagine how many other people like me have applied for this SEO strategist/specialist/associate role and how the hiring managers ultimately decide who to hire when everyone probably has the same experience/skill-sets and experience of bringing results at their previous agency. I feel like in this saturated industry (if it's not as saturated as I think it may be, please correct me if wrong) one has to be quite different or unique from others to get that higher paying salary and excel. so how can I be that unique one? what are some key attributes and how can I develop them? really want to excel as an SEO and make my way up but I feel like every other Joe who does SEO is exactly like me.

Google Discovery starts to show up as Referrer - SEO relevance?

Hello,

since last week the referrer discovery.google.com shows up in GA (german publisher domain). As far as I know it the results and recommendations are very personalized because of the history and preferences of the logged in user.

Is there any attempt to use it for SEO or existing SEO strategies? Does Google say anything about ranking criteria or optimization? Thanks & Cheers

Why my backlinks are not indexing?

I have used the method to index my backlinks that I have created one web 2.0 blogger site on which I wrote one post and pasted my 5-6 backlinks with naked URLs and submitted the post to google for indexing with search console.

By an hour my post indexed but my Backlinks in the post still not indexed. Only one or 2 are indexed. Why remaining backlinks are not indexed.

And How can check if my backlinks indexed or not?

I use site: mybacklinkurl.com to check whether a backlink is indexed or not

I got an offer from a company that's running Angular! Would this be a big challenge?

Hi guys

I got a good offer from a big company, they just started and their site is running on Angular. money is not my main concern but I do not like my situation in my current company.

Now I have seen how bad SAP React is, another major big budget website, although they are spending millions on marketing but their ranking is not even in first 100, partially because they're new and another is because of JS.

In my current job, I am doing pretty well with an HTML website and an old domain, with a strong brand, on-page optimization is all that's required to rank up.

So should I take the chance and jump out? Would Angular cause me to fail?

Brand new (blog) website with personal Wordpress... suggestions for visibility?

I am interested in trying to test the waters with my site and determine if there’s a reasonable market for it.

I have registered it with both google search console/Webmaster Tools and Yahoo/Bing Webmaster Tools. However, even when my site indicates that it’s getting referrals through one (or more engines) they don’t ever seem to show up in the Webmaster hits.

I was hoping someone in here may have suggestions for cultivating appearances on these search engines. They both indicate that my site has been entirely crawled. Please keep in my that Wordpress personal is fairly limited in the options available.

I have seen some backlink growth but the search results don’t seem to be coming with the link growth.

I would very much appreciate any suggestions from this community. Thank you in advance!

SEMrush - have you canceled your subscription?

I use and appreciate SEMrush, but after the first several months the software has lost some of its uses. As a small operation, even at $100/monthly it is a strain. (We are in Mexico so that $100 US monthly is much more expensive to us - current peso is 18:1 so it’s more like $1,800 monthly).

Local SEO - Floor and Suite number on Address Line 2

[QUESTION]: Am I doing SEO right as a 4 month old startup? Noob here.

I have tried the following:

  1. Registered a domain name www.amazingfables.com specifically to rank for 'fables'
  2. Engaged freelancers on Fiverr to build PBN links on Tumblr
  3. Engaged freelancers on Fiverr to build backlinks
  4. Disavowed any spammy links from 2) and 3)
  5. Writing the occasional content on my blog
  6. Renamed many of my images to contain my branded keywords 'Amazing-Fables'
  7. Getting listings up on Product Hunt, Reddit, Crunchbase, Glassdoor, Goodreads, Tech press, Quora
  8. Trying to get legitimate PR- about 4 pieces of news so far
  9. Creating affiliate networks with ties to coupon sites

I am also trying the following:

  1. Translating my books into 12 different languages to increase content count
  2. Link exchanges with other authors/illustrators
  3. Blog outreach- but it's difficult to get responses

Is there anything else I can try to grow my SEO presence?

Are "I" and "you" the same from an SEO perspective?

I tried Googling this, but couldn't get a search term that got me near what I wanted. I'm writing a series of posts that answer the question "Why would I want to <something something something>" or "How do I <something something something>." The thing is, if I write the post title starting with "Why would I want to...", it sounds kind of weird and artificial to me. I'd much rather title the post "Why would **you** want to..."

If I title my post with "you" instead of "I", will I still get people who are searching for the "I"? Just wondering how Google treats words like this - if they assign equivalency, or if there's something else I should do from an SEO perspective to rate well.

Another Medic Update Post

Hey guys,

Have we learned anything about the medic update? I read posts but have yet to hear from anyone that has actually recovered from it.

I got slammed with a 70% traffic decrease July 31 and woke up today October 29 to see another 90% loss. I own a social media platform and am more focused on direct traffic from brand awareness but this still aggravates me. The lack of transparency from Google had me in F it mode. I'd like to try to get back on track, it's to a point I feel deleting all my content and starting over might be necessary since I have tons of high authority back links mainly from the press.

Enough of my whining 😜 wondering if anyone's recovered from this? Again, I've read a lot on it but so far it just seems like speculation. If all we have is speculation I'm going to wait and keep link building until something changes or our understanding becomes solidified. I really feel for business impacted and Google's crappy response. I don't even rely on SEO and it's got me pulling my hair out.

I'm firing my SEO agency but they are taking their links!

So I got sick of my current SEO agency not telling me what they were doing and not providing proper reports. All they gave me every month was a traffic report and ranking report and a loosely worded reassurance that they would continue doing what they were doing.

So I told them I was leaving and I needed a full report on the links they built me with logins to any citations etc.

They then informed me that I wouldn't be keeping all my links. I didnt realise I was only hiring links. I though they were actually building them.

So this is the Ahrefs rankings of the links I'm loosing.

DR/UR * 43/36 * 45/9 * 26/9 * 9/25 * 1/27 * 1/10 * 0/20 0/11 0/9

If I'm loosing links to 9 PBN sites thats going to tank my authority and thus rankings!

What kind quality of links do I need to build to pick up this slack?

Is it one for one? Like do I need to find another DR43 homepage link?

Can I use a DR20 link to cover all those sub DR10 links?

My website is firstnamelastname.com - however if you google my name Facebook is the first result

To preface, I work full time as a Web Developer and have a high understanding of good SEO practices, but am no means an expert.

I have a website (specifically my professional/portfolio website) which is just my first name and last name dot com. I would think that I would be first since the domain name literally contains my name however I'm beat by Facebook. I'm guessing that this has to do with:

  1. Facebook having an older domain name
  2. Having more keywords on page than mine
  3. Having more visitors

Instinctually though, I would think that since my website is literally my name, it would be the first result. Obviously beating out a behemoth like facebook in SEO is very hard if not impossible but could I be missing something really obvious that ranking me at #2 in search results?

How do you handle scheme markup? Seems like a huge pain. Do you have to redo schema every time you update a post/page?

If you go in and update a blog post or page, then your schema markup for the edited section is now incorrect.

So... that seems like a giant pain in the butt to go in and edit your schema markup every time you change your site.

How do y’all deal with this?

How to rank a page that has only images on it and just 300-400 words of text?

I have a page on my website where the layout is like an instagram profile page. A grid of images, which when clicked take the user to the relevant article. I have been trying to rank the page for a while now but to no avail. I have set up the page title, meta description etc. What else can I do? Or is it futile to try and rank the page without text?

Site redesign - moving to wordpress

Hi guys… I’m in the planning stage of a rebuild for my family’s restaurant website. The site is www.StarTavern.net (yeah, I know the redesign is well overdue). We seem to rank pretty well… mostly for branded search terms but I’d like to extend that to non-branded. Currently at 25 (according to SemRush) for “best pizza in NJ”. I’d like to raise that and others like it. I have a few questions regarding this rebuild which I plan to do in WordPress.

[1] All of our social media pages, Google, ourselves… we all call it Star Tavern but there are a lot of directory websites that call it Star Tavern & Pizzeria or something of that nature. Could this hurt? Should I be proactive in correcting that?

[2] I never thought a blog was necessary, but to raise some of those search terms/phrases it might be. We do often get awards or mentioned in articles so that could be an angle to go for the “best pizza” rankings without throwing “best pizza in nj” all over the site and coming off like jackasses. I’ll have to brainstorm about other blog topics. But it’s worth having a blog in your opinion? I don’t want it to feel forced. I have some other ideas. I don’t believe I’ve seen a restaurant blog before (haha like I said, still planning stage) how often would it make sense to post?

I’ll have feeds of social content as well as various website reviews pulling in new content so that should at least keep things a little fresh. Other than what is on the site now, except it being actually SEO optimized unlike now, is there anything you would add/remove/etc? Suggestions/advice? And actually thinking about it now the place has such rich history, characters, and is always getting best this or that so I feel like I can maintain a blog that isn’t just there for keywords…. But hey don’t refrain if an idea pops into your head!

I bought Thrive Comments, Monarch (social sharing), a page builder (I know, I know… but is BB that bad? Is AMP necessary for a restaurant site?), and I think that’s it. Is the Yaost premium or local worth it? Any other must have plugins or “would be nice” to have (paid or not)?

Oh and backlinks, we pretty much get them through sites like NJ.com and DailyMeal.com when we’re ranked and such… should I attempt to locate and reach out to local food bloggers? I know nothing of link building.

I know I could’ve Googled some of this info, but it’s always way more helpful if someone has the time to write a response- no matter long, it’s helpful & appreciated.

Any advice would be awesome! Thank you!!

Maybe should have also mentioned there's nothing for sale. I may put an outerwear, hats, etc store page up for the holiday season... but typically it is too hard for myself or any of my other family members to keep up with that.

Still can't get conversions

I've gotten around 700 clicks since i started my ecommerce dropshipping site but nobody has purchased anything on it. I currently get around 15 visitors per day with at least 1 person adding items to their cart but they later abandon it. What am I doing wrong?. I've payed for ads in Facebook, Instagram, Google ads, etc. with no avail. My site is www.techdash.shop could you check it out and give me feedback on what I might need to improve. Thanks
