I read that Yell business is partnered with Google in the UK. I spoke with a salesman at Yell and he said it's in a companies best interest to subscribe to Yell business. Obviously a salesman would say that. But, some of the things that he said were interesting.
He didn't specifically say Google gives preference, but he did say it's very difficult to outrank businesses in the local area who use Yell business and that by using Yell there is added trust. Their monthly fee is jaw dropping personally, but I can sort of see it making sense if there are some significant SEO benefits.
On a different note I noticed before I registered with Google business I wasn't ranking at all. But when I registered I started getting traffic slowly. Before that I wasn't getting any. This suggests Google prefers registered businesses, which makes me think they'll add more trust if you're with Yell business?
Maybe it's all in my head, but I thought I'd ask.
