How do I decide whether to use one post or two?

I've found a relatively easy keyword to rank for (two). On both pages, the pages that rank are low quality less than 500 words.

Here is the problem, however, I'm not sure whether to make one post or two. (Example keywords used but same thinking)

Here is the example.

A site : 20 Old British Names You Can Name Your Baby
Ranking: old british names (#1 spot) old anglosaxon names (#3 spot).

B site: 20 Old Anglosaxon Names For Your Little One

Ranking: old anglosaxon names (#1 spot) no where in sight for old british names

90% of these names overlap but site A has slightly longer introduction and conclusion.

I have found similar keywords for another couple of niches and am thinking of doing one "mega" post... is that advisable or should I do two separate posts?

I'm curious just to know in general what one does in this situation :)
