I know it's not good to fudge your qualifications on a job application but I'm a copywriter and I've been extremely unhappy at my current job for a long time now, sending out application after application to other places and hearing nothing back. This weekend, however, I applied for a new position at a fun new company for a much higher salary. And they emailed me back to arrange an interview!
Awesome!
Only the job was for an SEO specialist AND copywriter. And my SEO specialist experience is... limited. I've used the Google console a few times for some very specific work at my current company. I've used Spyfu to take snapshots of clients' performance, pick out the green "up" arrows and send them screenshots. And I got Google certified late last year, based on general knowledge of the questions and some aggressive guessing.
I've never strategized an SEO plan before, because it's just never been on my list of things to do at work. But I've been in the field for years I'd be more than willing to learn and become great at it.
So my question is: how do I come across as a solid enough SEO specialist to get the job? I know it's a bad way into any job, but I've been waiting for a shot for so long and I really want to get a toe hold here. I'll be all over Google for the next two days, but any advice would be a huge help.
