There’s something I’m missing with the rank and rent model.
How do you build a website and essentially pretend to be a genuine business? I mean, won’t customers realise that you’re not real?
Especially since this technique is supposed to be “local”, you would think locals and competitors would quickly pick up that you’re not actually a real business?! Especially as you need a GMB profile and citations to rank well.
Say you build a dentistry (or locksmith, or roofing etc) website and start ranking it. What do you do if a customer calls you before you’ve either rented/sold the website or arranged a PPL deal with some other dentist in the area ?
From what I read, you palm off that lead to another local dentist right? So what will the customer think if they contact XYZ Dentistry at 123 High St, Toothville for a quote and end up being contacted by ABC Dentists at 145 Floss St, Brushville?!
It seems apparent to me that clients will quickly notice that it’s not the same place and especially competitors will know that you don’t exist (in a local niche, you tend to know exactly who are your competitors).
All the SEO rank & rent guides and articles out there seem to conveniently brush past this precise part.
