I want to expand my knowledge of marketing. I'm quite good at paid search, but only know the basics of SEO (i'm a dev, so I can write solid code) - so the sitemap/robots/href/tag/h1/title/no-follow/imagine is a no brainer to me
Nevertheless, when I speak to SEO guys - they are talking about Pandas and ranking factors, it kind of sounds like some kind of secret magic that only true gurus would know
We speak to different SEO service providers, and they all say different things, it's like nobody agrees with each other, and one guy is more of a guru than the other (it's like kids in a playground discussing batman vs superman)
- that's true
- that's no longer true
- blackhat is bad, or necessary
- buying links will kill your rankings
- buying links is just how we do things - it's not only way to get rankings in a commercial environment
- anyone that tells you that is lying to you, as is trying to cheat you! talk to me instead
- anyone thats says that doesn't know SEO
- Google says this - so it must be true
- Not everything Google says is true, Google sometimes doesn't tell the truth
- That information will boost your rankings
- That information is so 2005!
TLDRIs there some kind of format exam I can do to figure out if I know my shit?
