I have an interview for an SEO role with a comparison site later this week. As part of the interview, I’ve been asked to prepare a presentation on how I’d optimise a portion of their site relating to household energy (gas and electricity).
I’ve broken my presentation down into:
· The basics (i.e. meta titles and descriptions, alt tags, sitemap, broken links, loading times)
· Content (frequently produce relevant content that answers user’s likely questions (data gleaned from Analytics, Google Search Console, PPC accounts), the creation of a content calendar to ensure that topical content is created and posted at correct times, that Google Search Console is reviewed frequently and changes made when CTR is poor, plan more evergreen content).
· Social media (content should be promoted vis social media posts containing links back to relevant content, posts should be optimised for sharing (i.e. CTAs), promote content via paid social in order to drive traffic to relevant pages).
· Link-building (blogger outreach, checking for mentions on websites without links and contact administrators to request one be added, utilise press releases, check for broken external links)
· User experience (loading times, responsive design, easy to navigate)
Have I missed anything obvious or can anyone recommend anything new and interesting I should be discussing?
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
