Site shows 0 backlinks in Search Console but over 1K in Ahrefs - is it due to http/https

Hi,

Client shared with me Search Console and Google Analytics. Search Console shows 0 linking sites however it is for http://www.websitename.com - but the site is actually https://www.wesitename.com.au. Do you think this is the problem? Should I create a new account for https - will that make a difference? There's no way it should be showing 0 backlinks in Search Console - what am I missing?

Also the amount of traffic should be way higher on Google Analytics - but again it's on http://www.websitename.com instead of https://www.websitename.com - am I misssing something here?
