A client of mine had a website several years ago, which was penalized for purchasing backlink packages and doing other unethical black-hat SEO techniques.
He is still in the business with many other websites but he is following all the Google guidelines now. The weird thing is that he was never able to rank any of the new websites. He has great content, but after 2 years he still does not have any traffic.
The only connection to the old penalized website is that he is the same owner and Google knows that because the new websites were added inside the same webmaster tools and analytics account where the old website was.
He thinks Google does not rank any of his new websites because of his bad history.
Is it possible that Google has such a penalty, that is applied directly to the website owner?
Moving the properties now to a different Google account is too late..
