301 redirects to point good domains to main site?

I'm looking to become a thought leader in my space. I also have a strange penchant for registering interesting domain names.

I have several domains that I'm quite fond of (it's a bit of a problem, really), all loosely related around a niche industry. I am a qualified instructor for the topics, and each one is focused on a particular need.

Would it be better to create individual sites, or point to specific category pages on my personal site (think Michael Hyatt, Seth Godin or Brett Terpstra)?

Example, imagine each as a domain:

  • Raising Goats 101
  • The Urban Goat Farmer's Market Guide
  • Know Your FDA Goat Milk Guidelines
  • The Organic Microfarm Certification Prep Course

Would I better having each of these domains as a separate site, or should I use 301 redirects to point to my personal site BillyTheGoatFarmer and then to a category page (ie. billythegoatfarmer/FDAGuidelines)?

I have read multiple blog posts about niche sites vs authoritative sites. In most cases, the authors are coming at it from an affiliate marketing/flipper standpoint, which I don't think applies here. I also have targeted communities I'm involved with, so I'm less dependent on Google.

I lean towards the authority site under my name. What do I do with all these great domains?

Thanks in advance for your help!

EDIT: Forgot to add: each of the domains generally focuses on what could be a product independent of the others. 1 might be an exam prep, another a series of videos, another a stand-alone course. It seems like a lot, but they're all closely inter-related, but are specific to a person's journey to expert.
