I have tried to teach myself about SEO online throughout the years. The first website I hosted was back in 2010, so things have changed quite a bit in terms of what I found to work and not work.
Something I entirely understand is the amount of money people are willing to pay for SEO. What I don't quite get however is how they are guaranteed results. I usually grind my way to the top page for a specific query, but I'm not sure how someone can offer a 5 thousand dollar service for instance, and promise first page results. If you're selling SEO, do you typically see whether it's something you can do, or judge the niche and competition then make an offer, or how does exactly do you work out a price, and know you can achieve what you're promising?
Until recently, I built websites for myself mainly as a hobby and some cash on the side through affiliate marketing. I've started making websites for a few clients now, and I often tell them that SEO is a science, and I can only do what works, but never guarantee results, etc.
Until now, I haven't really trusted any SEO service for free or for cash. Coming to this subreddit, I see people saying what is trusted and what isn't when it comes to paid SEO services. Is there a money-back guarantee of some sort that ensures trust, or am I missing the whole picture?
Looking forward to the responses.
P.S. Excuse my ignorance in the field.
