I am helping an old friend create a website for a business where she goes from place to place. I looked at some of the search statistics and realized that the vast, vast majority of her hits were coming from a search that looking something like this: "Real Estate Agent near Columbia, SC".
She serves multiple cities, so would it make sense from a SEO standpoint to put the city names in the website footer under a heading with something like "Areas Served"?
The point is to capture cities nearby, like Cayce and Forest Acres. So if someone searched "Real Estate Agent Near Cayce, SC", this site would still pop up on Google.
