Internal Linking Question

Hi SEO's

I had a quick question about internal linking and was wondering if someone could help.

When I am adding internal links to my pages, should there be internal links both ways between the 2 posts or should I only have the less important pages link to the main page I want to rank?

So for example, If post 1 internally links to post 2, should post 2 also link back to post 1.

Or should I just have a lot of different pages link to post 2 and not have post 2 link back to those same if post 2 is the one I want to rank?
