Our website does not have very good SEO practices in place right now, but my boss wants to run PPC campaigns using keywords that are popular in our industry.
I voiced concerns that this might have a negative effect because in many cases, the on page content either a) doesn’t satisfy search intent, or b) lacks the opportunity to engage with our company directly through any meaningful calls to action. (Ie. “If you’re interested, in touch with us today!” ... with no forms, click through items, or even a tap to call phone number.)
I am worried that if he chooses to run PPC ads on Google, we’re gonna get a high bounce rate, and just be wasting money, but also that it could affect any organic rankings new have due to those high bounce rates.
He’s not listening, saying he just wants more traffic to the site.
I know the on-page content isn’t up to snuff, but am I off base with my concerns on effects of bounce rate? Is this a real risk?
