SEO pluggins

Hey.

I have been working with my company website and I did not build it nor install the plugins, it had yoast and it does not seem to do great in Swedish (native language and the language the page is in). After looking and googling I find that it's cause it isn't the premium version. I tried SEO Framework and it seems to just adore the site instantly, but I can't see anything about text readability.

So two-pronged question Do you need an SEO plugin and how do you increase your position in the google search, yes I know about using the keywords and such but even when using them to search I am not as high on the hit list as I would like (We have one 'nemesis' as my boss likes to call it and we want to beat them in the search optimization). OK I lied there are 3 questions, how can I tell what google thinks of the SEO?

Back story, I am self-learned in SEO and by any means not an expert but I like to think I have an ok handle on it. The issue we had with yoast SEO free version was that it is just not great when it comes to Swedish. Swedish like german combines words and it does not pick up that at all and it wants us to adjust the actual text in a way that just is really weird.
