Former Programmer interested in SEO

Hi guys. Its been a long time since I last coded (10 years ago, when I was in uni). I have been thinking of returning to coding (I need the practice, I like coding but never actually worked as a developer) and I am looking for app ideas. SEO and lead generation is an area I am slowly becoming interested in and would like to know if there are SEO problems that can be resolved via programming? If things go well, I might even try to monetize the SEO tool in the future or use the tool as part of a portfolio of programs I have built. Thanks.

As for languages, in the past I have worked with:

  1. HTML/CSS
  2. Javascript
  3. Python (the language I am most comfortable with)
  4. PHP
  5. Java, C/C++

Coding these days are quite different from when I did it about 10 years ago. Back then, we just coded everything. These days, programs are built by gluing together various libraries, apis, frameworks...etc, which is kinda annoying. Those libraries usually come with a billion different features and sometimes it gets hard to know which ones to use and debugging code gets challenging when a variable in someone else's code is showing the wrong value....etc.
