Hi!
I have been blogging for about 5 months, and I have a blog with 80 posts. I am trying to focus on a productivity niche, and I am starting to run out of distinct topics to write about. All the major topics' high volume keywords are dominated by sites like Lifehacker, etc. So I have been trying to attack long-tail keywords instead.
Now that I am approaching 100 blog posts, I was considering two options:
- Keep writing more blog posts and extend to new sub-niches.
- Start to extend and develop current blog posts with new longer content, images, infographics
Currently, my blog posts are about 2,000 – 3,000 words. I think it would be easier for me to extend those posts to a 3,000 – 5,000 word range with better UX and infographics, and at the same time make them fight with the bigger sites. Instead of just keep grinding about thinning a list of long-tail keywords that I don't have anything meaningful to say about.
Do you have any suggestions on what I should focus on? Have you had same kind of strategy on your blog?
Should I try to reach 200 posts and then start to refine old posts?
