In investigating a spike in search traffic to one of my blog posts, I discovered it had become a "featured snippet" on Google. Does anyone know about the longevity of this and tips to achieve this on more posts?

I run a technical blog about some programming concepts. I noticed this week that one of my posts was getting ~300% more traffic than normal leading to me discovering that, when folks google "How to [do some technical thing]", a photo from the post and some of the content from the post shows up first in the results, followed by a link to the actual post.

This is awesome! But I'm wondering if anyone knows if this tends to be a permanent feature or if it gets rotated frequently.

Additionally, does anyone know how to optimize posts for this? There are a few attributes of the post itself that I can guess are helping:

  1. The title is the exact question "How to [do some technical thing]"
  2. The post has exactly one image, which is the logo of the main technology
  3. The post itself is fairly short and probably relatively easy for Google to extract the main three steps to achieve the desired result

Thanks for reading, look forward to hearing your thoughts!
