I help run a site where we dominate the great majority of keywords with at least one our pages, so our site has domain authority in our niche.
Our goal right now is to get the home page to rank against a particular query. We think we got the content in the home page to rank on this query. I think the problem lies in that google hasn't tested enough our home page against this query to see that our home page would in fact do well and satisfy their metrics on that query. The current competition for this query is very weak e.g. obscure amazon listings, a pdf, etc.
Anyone got any ideas how we can get google to test our home page against a specific query?
