Sitemaps and search page's internal linking

I have a search page on my site, which say has access to 10,000 terms. I want Google to index all 10K result pages for each term. I will add them to a Sitemap, but I'm not sure that has any value as each of the 10K pages isn't easily discovered otherwise, as the only access to the result page via the website is via a user entering one of the terms in the search bar, and a crawler won't do that.

Has anyone done this sort of thing and found Google will index the Sitemap url entry OK despite the result page not being discoverable via crawling the website? Do I need to add a page with all terms listed to make Google think there's good internal link structure for each term's page?
