We have different domain for the blog section. Does this gonna effect the SEO?

Hey, My company has separate domain for the "Blog.companyname" section(wordpress) and our main site is built on HTML. Now I am focusing on our SEO. I have doubt about that

does this effect on our SEO?

If yes then what should I try to get more traffic?
