So, a day ago I posted a short thread about finally improving my website's loading speed. (Seems like I'm not allowed to post links or images)
Loading speed before: 7 seconds | Loading speed after: 2 seconds
So, here's how I did it:
- The site is hosted on GoDaddy, and I have not worked on optimizing the database yet.
- Increased text to image ratio: Added a lot more text and reduced images to only have necessary ones.
- Optimized the images before uploading them to the website. I used jpeg and some webp, also icons were in svg. This boosted the speed by 2x.
- Installed a cache plugin.
- Changed the theme to hello Elementor. I noticed themes really do affect website loading speed.
- Choose all (or most) faster plugins. Did a ton of research on what plugins to use and which plugins are faster.
- Lazy loading. This is a gem! Lazy loading boosted the site speed 5x!
This is mostly what I did. Still need to work on optimizing database files. The website is not coded, it's entirely made on WordPress from scratch. I do plan on coding the site later when we require a client's dashboard.
