I came across a website today, it was popular in 2017, lots of backlinks, 20 years old, became an authority etc. it is no longer online, but the domain didn't expire, someone bought the domain but is doing nothing with it. I want to buy the domain but have exhausted all avenues and obviously the owner doesn't want to be contacted.
When you visit the site it just shows the domain registrar page. So instead I'm going to create my own site with similar pages and then outreach to all the referrers to replace their broken links with links to my pages.
I think this will work but here's my main question, what tools can I use to find similar sites like this, with lots of valuable backlinks, that are no longer online, but the domain is still taken?
the standard ways to find expired domains obviously wont work for this. any ideas?
