Any tips or help is appreciated

Hello,

We've been working on building a blog for almost 4 years now. Everything was going well until the December 2020 update. We got hit pretty hard by that one. We spent a few months trying to recover and did recover some. We then got hit again in June/July and, most recently, in November '21.

We're in a pretty competitive niche (shopping / deals) and we focus on long-form, evergreen content. Some examples would be 'How to find the best generator for your home' or 'What to consider before purchasing a countertop grill'.

We've never made any real money but we've always been able to cover the basics like hosting and content. This is the first month where we won't even be able to cover that. I'm not quite ready to give up on this but it's extremely frustrating and it seems like there's no way out.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation and figured out how to turn things around? Do we need more backlinks? Do we need to be updating our content every week instead of every few months?

Any tips or help is appreciated.
