Generally I only PING my sitemap when I have changed one of the pages. My site is small and really just a test bed. I had recently put some cron jobs on my server and was tempted to add my sitemap PING to it, but didn't know what the effect would be... I see it as one of:
- It will just increment the change count for my site, without affecting its position in queue
- It will register as a collision with a queued request deleting the original and requeing at the end of the que.
- It will increment the change count giving the site higher weight in the queue based on some weighted queue magic.
Which, if any, of these do you think is likely?
