I've messed up in rel canonical by posting in Medium first instead of my blog. Is there any way to recover it?

I'm just starting to play around with SEO. I created a medium post first and then copying it on my blog. I've written 2 articles like this, and after days, my website isn't indexed yet. I just realized that maybe it's because of duplicate links.

So I searched around the net and found out that I fucked up: I posted on medium first, and not making the rel=canonical point to my blog. That's probably why google isn't indexing my website, it thinks that my site is just duplicating things. Here are some things that I think I can do to recover this situation:

  • delete the post on medium and repost it with proper rel canonical
  • Just ignore it

Is there anything that I can do to salvage this situation?

Much love,

V
