We're an eCommerce retailer with a healthy domain age (3+ years) and visitor levels (50k+ per month). We have seen continued improvements in our ranking for the past 24 months, but am seeing some strange activity with desktop in particular. Whilst we are pleased to see our mobile/tablet positions remaining stable, desktop is seemingly jumping around according to Webmaster Tools.
It seems that in June our mobile rankings began to stabilise, around the same time as their mobile-first indexing rolled out. However, throughout the past 12 months our desktop has been jumping around with jumps of 3 - 6 avg. positions per day on occasion. Has anybody else seem this and, if so, what do you believe caused it?
