I have website old.com that i'm transferring to a new domain called new.com I've changed the .htaccess file with 301 permanent redict to point to new address. My question is this. All the files in old.com and new.com are the same. I imagine this can't be good for the google search engine/web crawler. How do I handle this part? Do I leave as is for the time being and shut down old.com when new.com gains traction? Do I shut down the old.com now, but then there is no 301 redirect? Do I write new content on the new.com pages? Any suggestions?
