For sitemaps:
I prefer XML sitemaps because it has options to ping Bing & Google when you make updates. It also generally has more options and the sitemap looks a little better.
However, it's really annoying that you can't jump into a page and exclude it from the sitemap like you can using Yoast SEO, you have to enter it in the backend, which is time consuming.
My question is: does the 'ping Google' option actually make any difference or is it just a bs gimmick? Or is it suitable in some scenarios, like for a news site?
TLDR: Does the 'ping Google' option in XML sitemaps actually make any difference or is it just a bs gimmick? Or is it good for some site types, but not as important for others?
