My Websites got hit by March Google Algorithm Updates and I can't seem to get our SERPs to go back up. Can anyone advise on what to do?

I have two websites for a local area plastic surgeon. He has a site for himself - let's call it "surgeon.com" and his medical spa and ancillary doctors "facility.com". They were ranking rather well until the exact date of the algorithm update, at which point our rankings plummeted dramatically. We made very few changes to the site, but were slowly updating content. I had an auditor take a look and he said the websites were hit harder because they both have Google My Business profiles that place them at the same address and phone number, plus roughly a 25% content overlap.

Can anyone advise on how to recover from something like this? It looks like other doctors in this local area did not suffer the same fate, and I really want to rebound before he gives the job to someone else.
