I've built a website and I'm in the early stages of doing some SEO work to improve the site ranking.
I've started using Google Keyword Planner to find good keywords to target. However I'm a bit surprised by the results. Many of the keywords have 1K - 10K average monthly searches and the competition is Low. In fact even one keyword I searched has 10K - 100K average monthly searches and the competition is Low. Could that be right? Would it be likely that a keyword which has possibly 100K monthly searches would have Low competition?
I tried something else as a way to "test" the Google Keyword Planner. I assumed any common SEO term would have High competition. So I decided to just check the following keywords (and I have their results beside them:
Keyword | Avg Monthly Searches | Competition
"how to rank high on google" | 1K - 10K | Low
"seo help" | 1K - 10K | Medium
"seo expert" | 10K - 100K | Low
Are these results correct? I would have expected there to be a lot more than 10K monthly searches for "seo help". And I would have expected something like "seo expert" to be high competition.
Maybe there is an obvious reason for this? Maybe I'm doing something incorrectly in Google Keyword Planner. I'm new to all this so any advice/guidance would be much appreciated.
