I have a client who is currently running an active e-commerce site which accepts and ships orders to the US and Canada. We recently built a Canadian-specific version of the site (mainly for shipping and product options) on a .CA version of the domain name (same domain, the primary is .com).
So my question is, what are the best SEO practices for this Canadian website? The goal is to eventually translate all pages to French and offer both versions to the user, but this will occur down the line. Both sites have a decent amount of similar content based on content analysis tools, and some content such as product name are impossible to truly change. We are trying to remove all other duplicate content.
I've come across several blog posts all recommending different solutions, and at this point i'm pretty lost. The main site ranks pretty well, so I was considering no-indexing the entire canadian site.
