Working on cleaning up a site. No. 1 error that keeps coming back in site audits is incorrect URLs in the sitemap due to a canonical tag not matching the actual URL.
Keep in mind, these are tag archives. Not the most important pages on the site, but still who likes to have a bunch of site errors in their reports.
Tried overriding in Yoast with a custom canonical tag add in the Advanced settings.
Updated the page. Doesn't show live on site.
Cleared the cache on the site. Code fix still doesn't show up on the site.
Short of noindexing the tag archives, can anyone offer a suggestion that will actually force these canonicals to update and become self-referencing?
