Hi everyone,
I work at an agency and I noticed that many of our backlinks are coming from 301 redirects from irrelevant domains.
An example is theethiopianfoundation.net (actual domain is different, but very similar name theme-wise) where everything redirects to our agency's SEO page.
This makes me think that our team is doing some shady blackhat tactics, purchasing expired domains with established backlink profiles and pointing it to our site to "steal SEO juice", however both our owner and SEO manager are feigning ignorance.
Their current hypothesis is that a competitor is doing it to sabotage are SEO, but our SEO rankings have increased TREMENDOUSLY since the backlinks started being detected by Ahrefs a few weeks ago. I'm talking from 20 organic visits per day to over 800.
My gut tells me they are full of shit.
Has anyone seen anything like this? We had a great backlink profile without this since we have an incredible PR team with links from major news sites and it saddens me we would even attempt anything like this.
Aside from this, I'm also seeing thousands of backlinks from fake websites with hidden comments, linking to that same SEO page with the anchor text "SEO".
Any insights from your experience would be much appreciated.
