So i just started working for my dad last year. He owns several tattoo shops. We want to expand into a whole e commerce store when we can sell jewelry as well. The website was built on wix over 10 years ago and has some issues but does rank in some areas. I really want to totally rebuild our website on shopify but he is very concerned that its going to drastically set us back. He is under the impression that how long the website has been established is a huge part of seo. I feel like if its built better and we have better page load speeds we will will rank better. I know it takes some time for them to crawl our site but after that I didn't think it made a huge difference. But I could be wrong because I'm not an seo expert. So main question how big of a factor is the length your site has been around. And would switching platforms mess this up. We will keep the same url. I was also thinking about maybe leaving the old website up just redirecting it. But i know page load speeds are a big factor and currently our site takes almost 5 seconds to load.
