Splitting business into 2 separate sites; how to deal with content?

Hey guys, business owner here and DIY SEOer. I run a business in the automotive industry and ranking is pretty easy in my market. No back-links, minimal blogging, but solid page speed optimization was all I needed to rank first page.

My business is growing & I've made an expansion into related services, so it made sense to get a new domain. My plan is to make both websites nearly identical (the user wouldn't know they're on a different site if it weren't for the different domain name) by using the same Wordpress theme, menus, etc.

For example, Website #1 is responsible for services A and B, while website #2 is responsible for service C. Clicking service C on the website #1's menu will redirect to website #2, and clicking on service A or B on website #2 will redirect to website #1.

What things should I be looking out for to not have a negative hit on SEO? IIRC duplicated content isn't a good idea, so does that mean I should have separate blog posts on each website? Does what I want to do even make sense as a whole?
