Looking to hire an experienced and proven Local SEO freelancer/agency.

Hi r/SEO, (sorry for the novel)

I'm gonna be graduating dental school soon and taking over my old man's practice. Things have been great these last couple of years, but we really need to up our SEO game. To give you some background, we're in a relatively saturated market, city of 100,000 people. I built or website a few years back on wordpress using visual composer and had some guys from fiverr optimize it so the GTMetrix scores were decent. I then found a freelancer on BHW and hired him to do the SEO based off of what seemed like good credentials. 18 months and a lot of money later and we are getting almost no web traffic. I hired a few people to look at the site and the SEO and they all listed issues such as bad backlinks, no content, spammy keywords, etc. Some said I need to disavow links, others said maybe not, not sure.

I just decided to let our old SEO guy go and am looking to hire a new expert. I've found that even for a tech savvy kinda guy like me, evaluating SEO freelancers and agencies is like getting a filling; you don't know if the guy did a good job until it starts hurting.

Based on quotes I've received from the past and what I've gleaned from talking to guys around here, our budget is very sufficient for the results we are wanting to see. Luckily, this time, I've read several posts here on this sub on how to find and evaluate services offered and really want to find someone who can take us over the top. I had someone evaluate our competition and supposedly its not as stiff as our last guy made us believe so real progress is plausible.

Here are some things I'll ultimately need to see:

  • Case studies and examples of current/past clients/websites
    • traffic and improvements
    • keyword ranking increases
    • increased sales/leads from organic search
    • references in similar niches and markets
  • Transparency in your strategy
    • I felt like our last guy purposely used big words to confuse us
    • good communication
    • which tools you will be using
  • More about you
    • how long have you been doing seo
    • what kind of clients have you worked with in the past
    • do you do other things besides seo
    • are you an agency or freelancer

Lastly, I have a very trusted and successful (but too big for my little office :/ ) friend who will look over these things to help me decide so I know what I'm getting myself into this time around. I really appreciate it.

If you're interested, I made a short google form: https://forms.gle/fQjnadyBdDLX56G28.

This post will be updated when the position is filled.

Thanks!
